Wabi-sabi, often referred to as “the Japanese art of Wabi-Sabi”, is much broader than an art.
To better understand the meaning lets split the words and define them individually. Wabi- means peace, harmony and balance. The Wabi person on the Zen spirit is the one who finds happiness in the little things, who is free from anger, greed and who understands the wisdom of nature. Sabi-means flow of time, decay, degradation and the understanding that beauty is ephemeral.
Wabi-Sabi can be referred to as the beauty of the imperfect and respect for the passage of time. This design aesthetics opposes many typical contemporary and modern decoration rules. it disregards the need for perfection and symmetry in everything, pared down to its barest essence.
